On December 28, 1986 Calvin declares, “Toboggans give better rides than runner sleds.”
Hobbes asks, “Why is that?”
Calvin replies, “There’s no way to steer.”
We pretend we control our destiny.
In a weird choose-your-own-adventure kind of way, you decide some of the simple things. You choose when you wake up. You choose what college you go to. You choose who you marry.
But time is an illusion constructed by our animal minds.
And so is control.
The Universe is a record player, your life is the album, and your senses are the needle.
You only hear one side of the record.
You have a choice: do nothing or grab a toboggan and hang on tight.
Grab a toboggan.
You might have more fun than you think.
