    • My Failures

These are some of the things I have tried and failed at doing.

    • Jesse's Failures

      School Supply Business

When I was in the 4th grade, my school sold pencils, erasers… general school supplies to the students. Their store was open 15 minutes before classes started. They made a killing. Seeing an opportunity, I created a competing school supply business. I differentiated my pencils by spray painting them different colors and selling them to the students at a cheaper price. Spray paint was a dumb idea because the smell lingered on your hands every time I sold a pencil. A few days later, the school principal approached me – he shut down the business and confiscated our funds. Lesson: somebody bigger can take everything away. Bummer.

I was under the impression I needed a label name for the back of the CD. I randomly called it Pink Dress Records. I liked the contrast presented by the idea of a label called Pink Dress Records signing a shitty little punk band. It was a terrible name. I pressed up 100 CDs. They looked awful. But they sold out. A buddy of mine joined the team as my Head of Sales. He would hang out with us and tell me how much he hated the label name. We saved up enough money to record another EP. But we never released it. Pink Dress Records was hung up in the closet for good.

I’ve always liked folk and outsider art. Big fan.

        Atwell Artist Management

After moving to NYC for grad school, I had just enough money to pay for rent and books. But nothing left over for food. While all of my friends were taking free internships at some of the larger major labels, I was lucky enough to find a pa
